Underground Band, Sound Detour, Shred Away

Sound Detour, the eccentric psychedelia meets hard rock four-piece band, are on the rise in Atlanta with their “in your face” performances and anticipated first album. The compelling vocalist Carmen Meadows, the effortlessly rhythmic guitarist Bryan Caruso, the strong bassist Tim Eiss, and the pounding drummer Nick Gossic, are original and daring blends of talent. Their heavy beats and dramatic soundscapes will leave you craving for more inventive music.

“Its really hard to describe us because we try not to balance ourselves into one style of music,” said Caruso.

“Each member of our band is influenced by different styles of music, and we use those influences to inspire us to write and to not sound like them.”

Ranging from punk rock and dark wave to noise pop and funk, the fierce band are stylistically eclectic and melodic. Meadows strikes audiences with her passionate vocals and ethereal song lyrics, alongside Caruso who produces synced melodies and sharp guitar shifts.

The band’s top demo tracks, “We’re Not Alone,” “On Your Own,” and “Downfall,” which will appear on their upcoming first album and can be found on ReverbNation, are all-encompassing loud rock songs that showcase the band at their most powerful. If you like the hard rock bands Tool, Evenesence, or NightWish, then you’ll love Sound Detour’s beats.

The band’s performances are a must-see when in Atlanta, especially at the underground Punk Black Show put on in people’s basements, art studios, and skateparks. Sound Detour’s raw energy and synced chemistry never fail to disappoint, especially live.

“The next Punk Black show we are doing is Feb. 26 at No Man’s Land Skate Park. The other bands playing are Detroit Mutant Radio, Ectoproxy, Underhand, and the main band Howling Star,” Caruso explained.

But that’s not the only show Sound Detour will be shredding at. The band was selected to play at the annual music and interactive media festival, South By Southwest (SXSW), in Austin, Texas on March 18 and 19 at Club Rio. On top of that, the four-piece will be playing at Babylon Sports Bar in Metairie, Louisiana on March 20, and…

“We will also be in a local Atlanta magazine called Grease Magazine in March,” Caruso added.

Sound Detour is a twisted band with strong desires to perform loud shows and conquer vast genres.  Their fast-paced melodies, clever indie pop effects, and balanced creative influences make them one of the South’s rising bands.
