Preview: Alessia Cara Knows It All

Whoever said that talent and wisdom come with age clearly had never experienced the sound of 19-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter Alessia Cara.

Step aside Lorde, here comes Cara: the open eyes and ears of the youth culture generation. Known for her top singles that play on almost every indie pop radio station, “Seventeen” and “Here,” Cara made a name for herself at the age of 17 after releasing her first single, “Here.”

Cara’s first studio album, “Know-It-All,” will be released this Friday, Nov. 13. Unreleased tracks on the album include “Here (2:00 A.M. version),” “Scars To Your Beautiful,” and “My Song.”

Catering to an adolescent crowd, Cara centers her music around first love and heartbreak, alcoholism, high school parties, and the media industry. Her creative style and relatable lyrics resemble other like-minded artists, including Brett Dennen, Hozier, and Halsey.

I’ll be here, right there in the corner on the clouds of marijuana with this boy whose hardly knocking, hardly here… (Track 1, “Here”).

Don’t underestimate this up-and-coming teenage performer. She’s the voice of youth and the spark igniting our future pop generations.
